Darren acquired the business on 1st April 2016 when the founders, Mark Middleton and Sheryl Holland, retired. Before purchasing Middleton Holland, Darren spent the previous 12 years growing a successful accounting practice in the Matakana/North Auckland region, where he lives and has strong ties to the community.
Like Mark and Sheryl, Darren is passionate about small businesses. He owned hospitality businesses in the 1990s, so he is well aware of the challenges they face.
Darren can provide first-hand, experience-based knowledge of everything from pricing through to HR issues in this tough environment.
He prides himself on effective communication and his ability to assist clients with their queries, whether small or complex. Most of Darren’s spare time is very family-focussed (even with grown children), and his favourite activities include fishing, surfing (badly), skiing, travelling, and entertaining friends and family.
Chandima joined Middleton Holland in 2008 and brings over 20 years of experience as a professional accountant.
She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, holds a degree in Accountancy, and is a certified Xero Advisor.
Outside of work, Chandima enjoys getting to know people and loves to travel.
Udeshika kicked off her career at Deloitte Sri Lanka after earning her business degree. She spent 13 years heading up the finance team at Toll Global Forwarding Sri Lanka, then worked at Thirty Seven South Limited before joining the M&H team in 2019.
She holds Chartered Accountant status with Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka). She also holds an MBA from the University of Otago.
Outside of work, Udeshika volunteers regularly at a hospice and loves exploring new countries, spending time in nature, and ticking off adventures from her bucket list.
Ranu worked as an accountant at Middleton Holland from 2007 to 2018 and rejoined the team in 2021.
Outside of work, Ranu values travelling, gardening, and spending summer days at the beach.
Andy joined the team with several years of public practice experience in New Zealand, complemented by a background in accounting and finance from Vietnam.
He holds a Master of Professional Accountancy and Finance from Massey University and has a strong understanding of New Zealand tax compliance and financial reporting.
Outside of work, he enjoys reading books and listening to and playing music in his spare time.
Don joined the Middleton Holland team in June 2025 as an Accountant, bringing with him over 20 years of experience as a qualified accountant. He began his career at Ernst & Young Sri Lanka as an auditor and later spent five years as an Accountant at Namunukula Plantations PLC, a publicly listed company. He then served for over 12 years at Lalan Rubbers (Pvt) Ltd, a BOI-approved company in Sri Lanka, where he held the position of Senior Management Accountant, playing a pivotal role in driving the company’s financial and operational growth.
After relocating to New Zealand, Don began his NZ professional career as an Accountant at ARA Group NZ Ltd, continuing to apply his expertise in financial management and strategic business support.
Don is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCA). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an MBA in Finance from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Aloka joined M&H in August 2024, bringing years of finance leadership experience from Sri Lanka’s corporate sector, most recently at United Motors Lanka PLC.
She is a Chartered Accountant in Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and has also earned a Master of Professional Accounting at Unitec Mt Albert campus.
Beyond work, Aloka loves cooking, cherishes time with her children, and enjoys travelling with her family.
Caroline joined Middleton Holland in February 2023 as Receptionist and brings with her many years of office administration experience.
Outside of work, Caroline enjoys travelling, going to the gym, watching a good movie, and spending time with her family and friends.
